I am doing research on an article concerning Luther in the 1910 edition
of The Catholic Encyclopedia. In Volume IX, page 456, the article gives
a partial quote from Luther. The article notes that this quote comes
from volume XX, page 223 of the Walch edition of Luther's Works. I have
checked volume XX, page 223 of the 19th century St. Louis edition of
Walch and am not able to find the quote. As a matter of fact, it
doesn't even come close to talking about the same subject. From what I
understand the first printing of the Walch edition took place between
1740 - 1753. Does anyone know if the St. Louis editon of Walch is an
exact reprint of the earlier printing (same volumes and pages), or has
it been changed, and if so, how? Did the earlier 1740 - 1753 edition
place the works of Luther in the same volumes as the St. Louis edition?
(i.e. Does Volume XX in the 1740 - 1753 edition contain the same works
of Luther as volume XX in the St. Louis edition?) Looking foward to any
help in this matter.
